Challenge Your Inner Critic

"In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness.  We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans.  And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God's people in accordance with the will of God."

Romans 8:26-27

Some people's inner critic are stronger than others.  But we all, at some time or another, have struggled with that inability to ward off those internal self criticisms.  

The Holy Spirit, because he lives inside us, he knows us so intimately, he can actually step in and remove unhealthy lies we tell ourselves.  He does the work on our behalf.  He knows what to say, even when we don't.

When your inner critic is loud and obnoxious, try this:

1. Identify the things your inner critic is saying vs. what you truly believe to be true.
2. Consider whether your inner critic is right or way off base.
3. Address your inner critic with prayer gently and compassionately.  Try saying this, "Holy Spirit, please give me clarity and wisdom and teach me how to rise above my inner critic."

Spend some time with Jesus today.  Thank Him for knowing your heart and protecting you and guiding you each day!
